Intro: oh look another Atlus/Persona game hyped so much by fans and critics, I of course KNEW this game wouldn't be good but the 94 metacritic score is just so tempting, I played the game and it's of course Atlus/Persona crap.
Gameplay
Ha. Gameplay? IT'S SO FUCKING HIDEOUS. The game starts with like 5 hours tutorial, how can you start a game in this way? the first dungeon "cathedral" or something is BORING. You kill weak enemies on the overworld and engage tougher ones in turn based, the game mechanic is basically USE WEAKNESS OR GET FUCKED. You exploit enemy weakness? you do massive damage and get extra turns, you don't? no damage, you fucked. What if you didn't bring the "archtype" that has the proper attacks to exploit weakness with a boss battle? you end up doing normal weak attacks forever. This is not strategy this is retarded. When you are not in some boring dungeon, you are engaging in "timed" activities, the game has a calendar system and many activities and side-quests are times.
Story
HAHAHA. Do you like being preached and lectured about equality? oppression? diversity? blah blah blah? the game is non-stop stupid preaching about inequality and oppression based on birth class and tribes etc. The characters are one, no HALF dimensional. Once you hear them say one sentence that's it, it's all they say for the rest of the game. The main character while not silent he is a dumb fuck who speaks in one-short sentences for some reason.
Graphics:
The game appears reminiscent of an aged PS2 title that has been remastered in HD. The overall color scheme is predominantly gray and brown, with character designs reminiscent of generic NPCs from a Persona game. However, the anime cut-scenes are visually appealing.
Sound:
The excessive use of the "epic" Lord of the Rings-style music is overwhelming and diminishes its effectiveness. The English dub features individuals with a poor accent from either Ireland or Scotland.
Overall:
The game is just boring. The gameplay is very restrictive, the battles come down to exploiting the weakness system and outside of battles the game is very annoying with everything having a timer. The story is mind numbingly stupid, the kind is murdered but he used some magic after he died to set up a tournament to let the people choose the best candidate? really? this genius king never tried to see where his prince son is? STUPID GAME.
